The wooden bridge over the Jeker in the Stadspark

The wooden bridge over the Jeker in the Stadspark Maastricht will be closed completely. Maastricht previously announced that they were going to work on the bridge. But it is in worse condition than they first thought. That is why they are now closing it completely. So you have to walk around. Signs tell you how.

We’re going to do it again!
After our heroic journey by cargo bikes to Glasgow in 2021, we have now started our plans for an - if possible - even more heroic journey to the COP 29. The climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijan that will be held from November 11 to November 22, 2024.
A trip over approximately 5000 km. During this trip in various places we want to draw attention to climate issues and, above all, to play an inspiring role in this.
We will leave the Netherlands a week before the autumn holidays. The plan is to make the trip via Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Turkey.
We are currently working with the Dutch embassies in various countries to guarantee safe passage. Due to the distance, return transport will be organized.
We call on anyone who is interested in accompanying us (by bicycle or cargo bike) to send an email to noel@solfie.nl.
Of course we also need sponsorship. We call on both private individuals and business parties to consider sponsorship. We are thinking of, for example, sponsorship on our clothing (sweaters and capes), but also stickers on our cargo bikes. With this message babboe_cargobike is ‘informing’ customers that we need to have some more patience. The message does not have any option to respond to it. Also it seems not to write a post tagging Babboe in it as I tried with this message. What strikes me is that Babboe is not giving any advice about using or not using the Babboe bikes during the investigation. However the NVWA advices NOT to use the types that are under investigation and are waiting for a recall…
I’m a big fan of Babboe, as most of my followers probably will know, but this time it is very disappointing Babboe does not invest in good communication and understanding with their customers.
I ride my cargobike for my work as mobile hairdresser @hairvisit_noel and now I’m sentenced to use my car, pay parking tickets etc….
Babboe must understand I’m not amused now and in need of open communication.

Dark clouds above Babboe. The firm that manufactures the cargobike I ride had to stop the production due to problems with breaking frames….
It is very sad to read about that since my bike has been riding for almost 7 years now and over 37000 km. Been riding from the Netherlands to Scotland for the Climate Summit 2021. I can tell you this bike has suffered a lot under the extra weight of the triple solar cover, the larger battery and luggage ánd my 105kg of my own weight. Have been riding in the Ardennes (B).
The production proces is now under investigation. Let’s hope this will be finished soon and they can go on with the production of their beautiful cargobikes #babboe #produktiestop #productionstop #breakingframes

The solar panels on top are custom made and the cover with panels is called “Solfie”. There are actually 3 panels, one on top and two in side drawers.
Self-recharging with the power of the sun. Great solution!

Not so long ago, three bears lived in Maastricht. Cor, Sjakkie and Jo. Many Maastricht residents can still remember going to the city park with their parents on Sundays to see the bears. Most people think back to that time with nostalgia, although it was not unthinkable at the time to have bears as an attraction.
In 1993, the last bear, Jo, was transferred to the bear forest of the Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen. The bear pit, which was built in 1920, was suddenly empty. It was decided to turn the cage into a monument in honor of the bears.
Bear Jo appeared in a dream to artist and inventor Michel Huisman. In that dream he proposed to remember not only him, but also others. Including his friend the giraffe, who according to him could have had a better death. For example, Huisman decided to turn the bear pit into a semi-automatic comfort machine. In the den a young woman is kneeling next to a giraffe. If you step a little closer, you will see 12 more extinct animals in the path of the pit. Next to the pit is a round iron plate with a chair on it. When you power it, the girl pets the giraffe.
